About A/Prof Nathalie Bock
A/Prof. Nathalie Bock is a Principal Investigator in the School of Biomedical Sciences at QUT, the QUT Research Lead at the Translational Research Institute (TRI), and Deputy Co-Director of the Max Planck Queensland Centre for Materials Science of Extracellular Matrices (MPQC).
She obtained her M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from Université de Lorraine, France and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics from QUT.
At TRI, A/Prof. Bock leads research on advanced microphysiological tissue models that recapitulate healthy and diseased cellular microenvironments for both fundamental discovery and translational applications.
Her research portfolio includes a past NHMRC Peter Doherty Fellowship focused on prostate cancer bone metastasis, a past Advance Queensland Researcher Fellowship developing extracellular matrix-driven breast cancer organoid models, and a current ARC DECRA Fellowship (2024–2027) investigating microphysiological bone cell-ECM networks.
Her work integrates multiscale ECM design, biomaterials, biofabrication, and advanced characterisation to elucidate how biophysical and biochemical cues regulate tissue architecture and cell–matrix interactions.
A/Prof. Bock has secured over $25 million in research funding, authored more than 70 publications in leading journals, and delivered over 70 invited presentations worldwide.
She is the recipient of multiple awards and is a committed mentor to HDRs and early-career researchers in biomaterials, tissue engineering, cancer modelling, and biomedical technologies.

MiPSET acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which our Centre operates, including the Turrbal and Yugara Peoples in Brisbane, the Whadjuk Noongar People in Perth, and the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People of the Kulin Nation in Melbourne. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters, culture, and knowledge. We acknowledge that these lands have always been places of teaching, research, innovation, and learning.
